Walking & Cycling

North Walsham is surrounded by quiet lanes, countryside trails and scenic routes that make it ideal for walking and cycling. The popular Weavers’ Way long-distance trail passes through the town, linking North Walsham with the Norfolk Broads, the coast and Great Yarmouth through a network of beautiful rural landscapes.

Visitors can enjoy shorter local walks exploring historic streets, churches and nearby countryside, or venture further afield towards woodland, villages and the coast. Cycling routes around the town offer a great way to discover North Norfolk at a slower pace, with a mix of peaceful country roads and dedicated trails.

By Train

 

North Walsham railway station provides direct connections to both Norwich and the North Norfolk coast via the Bittern Line.

To the south, Norwich can be reached in around 30 minutes, offering easy access to the city’s shopping, historic landmarks, restaurants and cultural attractions.

To the north, the railway connects North Walsham with coastal destinations including Cromer and Sheringham, making it easy to enjoy beaches, seaside walks and the wider North Norfolk coastline without needing a car.

The scenic Bittern Line itself is considered one of the most picturesque railway journeys in the region, passing through countryside, villages and coastal landscapes along the way.

By Bus

 

North Walsham is also well connected by local bus services, providing links to nearby towns, villages, the Norfolk Coast and the Broads.

Regular services connect the town with destinations including:

  • Wroxham and the Broads
